200LEVEL ASPIRANT FOR POST OF VICE PRESIDENT, DEPARTMENT OF MASS COMMUNICATION.
The capacity of man is never determined by size and status, nor is the ability of man to serve limited to tribe and race. I am JOSEPHAT CHIDIEBERE 200 level student of the department of mass communication, aspiring to serve as the vice President at the departmental level.
Service to humanity is the greatest work of all. Since childhood I've been saddled with the responsibility of serving in different portfolios as evident here also in our department.
If I am elected as your vice President, I would ensure that the students don't just get the education they deserve, but also get access to information, assistance to downtrodden students, academic motivation and entrepreneurship trainings.
1) ACCESS TO INFORMATION: lack of information between the leaders and their people has been the cause of failure in systems, it is on this note that I plan to generate an open relationship where two way communication is the priority. This would ensure that the new and incoming students of the department get the necessary information they need and allow returning students to get clarified on issues they may have missed out on. This would be achieved by placing a suggestion box outside the department and also ensuring connections among members of the department through the internet. This system would enable students to air their views concerning issues at hand, lay down criticisms and offer solutions to perceived problems as this would ensure that the students are speaking and indeed listening thereby making the whole process inclusive of every student, ensuring that policies are made after consultation with every student and would be as a result of a unanimous decision making process.
2)ASSISTANCE TO DOWNTRODDEN STUDENTS: Assistance is necessary in our lives such that at one point in time we turn to one another for assistance. It is on this note that guidance sessions shall be made available to students and I shall work hard to see that assistance are given to every student who are either experiencing academic, personal, professional difficulties. This would also enable us know the issues and concerns of students and how to tackle these issues.
3)ACADEMIC MOTIVATION: Every man, including the bravest of men needs motivation. Therefore we would organize times when we can visit classes and speak to them concerning what they need to hear about academics. This would also be a time when guests would be invited to speak to students about success in relation to their personal experience all in a bid to enliven their mind towards academic pursuit. Seminars and quiz would be organized amongst levels, all in an effort to boost reading habits.
4) ENTREPRENEURSHIP TRAININGS: Trainings would be available to all students as these would ensure upon graduation that all the students would be able to say he learnt a thing or two while studying mass communication.
But all these things cannot be achieved without you. These are my dreams, I can't realize them alone unless we do it together! I believe in togetherness, for when we are together, we can all find happiness, no one would be envious, we would all be happy and everyone would have achieved a lot together.
